Within the next one to two years, Downtown Johnstown is set to receive a facelift. Nearly 30 projects are underway or in development across the city’s downtown area. These projects include new retail businesses, residential buildings, outdoor space, and entertainment venues. 124 Main Street
The former Szechuan Restaurant, which closed in 2017, is one of the first projects to be completed in 2022. Emerging entrepreneurs in the restaurant industry will be a big fan of this space. The building will act as an incubator for newcomers in the industry that need a place to launch their idea. Rentable apartments and a podcast studio will be added to the building on the upper floors.
122 Walnut Street
If you’re thinking of moving downtown but are hesitant because of the limited childcare options, you will be happy to hear more about this new project. “Changing Choices” day care is set to open after receiving state approval. Downtown Johnstown is becoming more and more family friendly with each new addition in the area!
126 Market Street
New year, new health goals. In the spring of 2022, GOALden Heart Nutrition Shake Shop is set to open and be a great resource for the community. Wherever you are in your fitness journey, GOALden Heart Nutrition has the perfect options for you. The shop will sell healthy meal replacement shakes, high protein iced coffee, and clean energy teas. Sounds delicious! The upper floors of the shake shop will be converted into residential space.
215 Franklin Street
Frozen yogurt – yum! Downtown Johnstown will see its first frozen yogurt shop open in the spring of 2022. The space was formerly the Alpha Printing building. Condos are planned for the upper levels of the building. Downtown Johnstown is about to get a whole lot sweeter!
516 Washington Street
Before heading home after work, visit Corojo’s Cigar Shop & Smoke Lounge – which recently opened in December 2021! The space includes a humidor, skill games, a stage for live entertainment, and a bar for BYOB. Luxe Point Johnstown is also located in this building and offers rentable spaces for hair stylists, massage therapy, and nail salons.
517 Main Street
A retail store is set to open downtown in the Spring of 2022. Elevate Clothing Company will offer brand name clothing, items from local artisans, and re-love section in their downtown space. The owners have already hosted numerous pop-ups during the holiday season and have a garnered quite a following for their boutique. The community is excited to see this new brand launched downtown!
605 Main Street
“Lofts on Upper Main” will be one of the premier residential buildings in Downtown Johnstown. The loft spaces are already under construction. The bottom floor will serve as a retail space and seven loft apartments will be available for occupancy above it. The owners plan to transform the roof into a deck overlooking our beautiful city.
